2. How Dana Works

WhatsApp Messaging

When you interact with Dana through WhatsApp, your messages are processed to provide the service. Conversation history is temporarily stored for up to 1 hour to maintain context during active conversations. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest.

Google Account Integration

You may choose to connect your Google account to enable email and calendar features. This grants Dana access to read and send emails (Gmail) and manage calendar events (Google Calendar). Your OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption (AES). You can revoke access at any time by typing "disconnect google" in the chat.

AI Processing

Your messages are processed by Google's Gemini AI to understand your requests and generate responses. Messages are sent to Google's API for processing and are subject to Google's data handling policies. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

Voice Messages

Voice messages are transcribed to text using AI. The audio data is processed in-memory and is not permanently stored after transcription.

Personalization & Memory

Dana maintains a personalized memory profile based on your conversations to improve the quality of responses over time. This may include your preferences, key contacts, and relevant details you've shared. You can request deletion of this data at any time.

Proactive Notifications

If you connect your Google account, Dana may send proactive notifications via WhatsApp, including daily briefings summarizing your upcoming calendar events and important emails, based on your configured preferences.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by typing "delete my data" in the WhatsApp chat. This will permanently remove your profile, conversation history, memory, connected account data, and all associated information from our systems.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and business details you provide during registration.
  • Usage Data: Interactions with the assistant, feature usage, and session data to improve our service.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address.
  • Connected Services: When you connect third-party services (email, calendar, etc.), we access only the data necessary to provide the requested functionality.
